Our story begins in the year 1998 were one of our coaches first started coaching girls but let’s jump forward to 2017 when the same coach met a group of girls whilst working with a local football club and whom came together with some amazing parents and coaches to start our dream of helping girls play football. From 2 girls, we quickly grew to 10, then in months we where training Saturday mornings and Monday evenings with 20 or more girls. A range of girls, ages, ethnicity, ability. Some shy, some loud, some serious, some funny. Some came to just enjoy and some came to help them pursue a future in football. No matter the girl we had one goal in common. Teamwork Makes The Dream Work! So the girls came and they trained and played games. They were motivated through vision, belief, teamwork. We worked on their health and fitness and they were passionate about it. They learnt to develop their self through good self talk and good habits. We set goals & plans and they would work on everything in their own time. It was real. It was a family. It was what football should be. And most importantly we together developed the girls in football and life skills. For one and half years before our journey with the club ended we had sessions of close to 40 girls and over the time we helped over 50 individuals girls play maybe a lot more some may say. Now you may think well that’s not a lot but for us it was amazing, inspiring, fun and the inspiration for our 6 step girls development process and the creation of the girls soccer academy.
